SNEE: Nature at Work

Ask yourself, how do you feel when you’ve taken a walk, listened to the rustle of the trees or noticed a bird or squirrel out of your window?

We’re working with the RSPB to investigate whether their innovative nature-based prescribing model could make a difference to the wellbeing of office-based workers (meaning all of us!).

We want to test the concept that connecting with nature can help us feel better in a world full of deadlines, stress and back-to-back meetings.

Please join us in this national pilot project. By taking part, you could boost your own health and wellbeing. Your findings could also help us to discover how to support millions of people nationwide in the future.

  • Early morning Summer poem by Jayne S

    Open the door,

Breathe in the cool air of the new day,

Smell the scent of the honeysuckle, jasmine and evening primrose lingering in the air,

Listen to the birds awaken from their roost,

Watch the sun begin to rise,

Top up the wild animal water bowls,

Marvel at the new day ahead.

  • Goat Yoga! Really, it is a thing!!

My friend and I enjoyed a yoga session with a difference on Sunday. Goat Yoga at Blackwater Alpacas & Pygmy Goats. It was definitely an experience, with health and safety guidance to be mindful of natural deposits as the goats came to visit our yoga mats. My friend Gill experienced first hand a warm, damp moment!!

We certainly used our laughter muscles, as well as a few yoga poses, whilst trying not to be distracted by the baby goats.

I have also enjoyed an alpaca walk with my daughter and cannot recommend highly enough the venue and organisers, who... Continue reading

  • The Garden - peace and tranquility

So mornings occasionally are for mindfulness instead of rushing to the gym. Having sat in my garden the other morning I was grateful for the serenity it offers. Nature is amazing. I did feel a bit sorry for the little bee that was struggling with the heat despite the early time of day but rested him on a flower and he soon recovered. Enjoy

  • The day of spiders!

There is something in the air! Spiders seem to be everywhere! Just popped for a mooch around the garden with my cup of tea on my lunch break, and came across these wonderful mini-beasts...

One spider was elegantly swimming across the top of the water in the water butt, the other hidden amongst the petals of the rose! #eightleggedfriends

  • Hedgehogs

by Shelley, about 2 years ago
No photos as it was getting dark but I saw a hedgehog in my garden last night. First one I've seen this year which was lovely. They come most years, in via gap under my gate. Good excuse not to fix the the fence on the opposite side of the garden so they can wander right through! :)
