Promoting Independence, Recovery and Wellbeing in Suffolk

Independence and recovery services help people stay independent, avoid going into hospital or care homes unnecessarily, and recover safely at home or in the community.

Suffolk County Council, Norfolk and Suffolk Integrated Care Board, service providers and voluntary sector organisations are creating a new 5-year strategy to make sure services will support everyone that needs them.

You might have had a fall, injury or accident, spent time in hospital, or supported someone who has.

You might have had support from any of the following services to help remain independent or recover:

  • Home First or had a Reablement Support Worker, supporting you with daily living activities such as washing, dressing, toileting, meal preparation, eating or drinking?

  • Spent time in a bed within the community - e.g. in Newmarket, Felixstowe, Aldeburgh Hospital, Bluebird Lodge or Hazel Court?

  • Seen someone urgently, such as the Reactive Emergency Assessment Community Team (REACT)?

  • Been looked after by a 'virtual ward' within your own home?

  • Got support from a voluntary organisation e.g. Leading Lives or Julian Support?

Or maybe something else helped you, or the person you care for, to be independent or recover.

You can help us to understand what would improve services in the future.

We would like to hear your experience to feed into the Promoting Independence, Recovery and Wellbeing Strategy for Suffolk. You can:

  • Share the 'little things' that would have made a big difference for you.

  • Tell us your whole experience or story from before you needed support to after your care had finished.

  • Let us know if there was anything missing from your care or support.

  • Give us ideas about how to support people better from different backgrounds or with different needs. Such as:

    • a learning disability
    • a mental health condition
    • autistic people
    • people who do not speak English
    • being a carer for others
    • homelessness
    • communication needs e.g. being d/Deaf or blind

We will offer you support and recognition for taking part in a way that suits you.
